Croom’s comments from Media Days
Here are some notable quotes from today’s media event via SECsports.com: (Excuse the shorthand)
On the Quarterback: “Omarr Connor will start as our quarterback, has a long way to go but tremendous athlete… Truth is, we will go into Tulane game with a quarterback who hasn’t played QB in this conference. But like the kids attitude and mental toughness. He has a long way to go but he works hard at it,. What happened in the spring after those talk sessions showed mental toughness. You can get on him and he’ll look you in the eye and smile at you. Something bad happens in game, he’ll let it roll of his back and keep going.”
On Offensive Playcallling: “I had anticipated this year I might call plays, but with the schedule I’m trying to keep and the job Woody did this year, I will let him call plays this year.”
On the Team Sherrill Left Him: “From a talent standpoint it was about what I expected. From a discipline standpoint I was disappointed., Class attendance and those type things, just surprises me for a kid that take a scholarship to play college football to not go to class.
On Discipline: “Being late to class is disrespectful to a teacher’s class. Dropped in on one last week. One of my players walked in 10 15 minutes late. Didn’t realize I was there until I raised my hand and asked the teacher a question. He just about fell out on the floor.”
“A kid may not like the fact that he can’t miss a class ever or he’s going to get up and 5 in the morning and run. That’s OK with me. If he doesn’t like it he needs to go somewhere else.”
