No, you didn’t read that wrong. Marcus Campbell led the SCORE International All Stars to an 89-83 victory over the Dominican national team. Campbell, who’s name is incorrectly listed as Michael on this report from the South Carolina athletics site, scored 28 points and pulled down 15 boards.

Now I know what you are saying, but I think we can all agree that Campbell even holding on to the ball long enough to score 28 points and pull down 15 boards is a sign of progress. If we can get half that kind of effort out of him during the season, the possibilities are scary.

Also, to confirm that it actually is Marcus Campbell, and not some mistake, here’s an article about the team from the Ole Miss athletics site, which lists Campbell by his correct name. BTW, for the obligatory LT shot, notice MSU doesn’t have anything about this performance on it’s website. One last note, Charles Rhodes is on the high school all stars version of this team, which is run by a ministry. Looks like Campbell and Rhodes are doing some worthwhile work, and improving their game at the same time. Good story to hear.
