Did we happen to mention Croom is black?
The Times Picayune has a well written, long piece on Coach Croom. It’s worth reading, although it’s full of the Mississippi-still-has-a-long-way-to-go things we’ve come to expect from “fer-ners”. I love this quote:
“I’ve heard people say, ‘Well, they’re not his (recruited) players.’ They are my players. Right now. They’re my players, I’m their coach, and that’s the way it is. We will go out and do the best we can, we will go out and try to win this football game, this week. We’re not going to concede any games, to anybody, anywhere, any time. Regardless of what situation we find ourselves in. I expect to win.
“Otherwise, it’s not worth all the time you put into it.”
