Auburn takes State to the woodshed in shades of 2003 (and 2002).
MSU’s lack of talent along both lines and lack of size at the linebacker spots spelled doom for the Dogs. It seems probation woes linger with MSU. Not the NCAA probation, mind you, but the Jackie Sherrill kind. It’s the kind of probation that teaches poor technique, recruits linemen and linebackers poorly and lacks senior leadership. Jackie said last year that these kids would win a lot of game for State before they leave. At this point it’s hard to believe. Jackie brought in a lot of All-Americans, but he couldn’t compliment them with solid back-ups.
I believe in time Coach Croom will bring up the overall talent level to an SEC level, but I fear a real probation - one that reduces scholarships - will hamper that effort. Thanks again, Jackie.
