UK athletic director Mitch Barnhart whines about the harshness of Kentucky’s NCAA sanctions in comparison to State’s:
“For me to compare penalties is probably not appropriate, but what you hope is that the infractions committee’s review of the cases is consistent and fair,” Barnhart said. “For our kids and our coaching staff that remain behind, I […]

With today’s 22-7 win over a reeling Kentucky, MSU pulls itself out of the cellar smack dab in the middle of the SEC pack. THink I’m overstating things? Check out the SEC standings.
State is now 2-3, tying the Dogs with Bama and Ole Miss (assuming they lose) for 3rd in the SECW. […]

Check out the national stats for Total Defense. Notice anything?
The gurus of the gambling-style defense aren’t doing so well. A lot of people (myself included) said last year once the C-USA gets used to JLD, the stats will fall off. Today Memphis is #69 in total D.
Charlie Strong is another JLD-type. […]

He has and Jackie Sherrill is no longer around to punt to him. That must mean we have a chance against UK. I suspect MSU will come out a little flat, but keep it close. I just don’t see the Kats pulling away from us. They’re basically a mirror image of […]

First it was questions about Lawrence Roberts’ NCAA status after a predraft work with the Trailblazers. Now, we find out Roberts took a spill and was hospitalized. He’s apparently okay, but I’m beginning to wonder what’s next for L-Rob? Lawrence, stay away from black cats, ladders, mirrors and Gene Swindoll.

NCAA places Mississippi State on probation, cuts scholarships - The Clarion-Ledger
* No bowl game - 2004 season only.* 8 scholarships cut over two years.* Four year probation.
Ouch! That bowl ban stings.
Seriously this is the best State fans could realistically hope for. The best part is we should get a boost in […]

All isn’t well with Rich Brooks and Kentucky football.
Reports last week on two national sports websites said Brooks, who is 5-14 in two seasons at Kentucky, planned to resign at the end of the season.
“I’m not quitting,” Brooks said Saturday and again Monday.
Perhaps MSU will luck out and catch another SEC team not […]

Could today be the day the NCAA hands down its decision upon the MSU football team? At least that’s what the Sun Herald is saying. A source at MSU (Deep Cowbell?) tells the SH’s Don Hammack and Jim Mashek:
“You’re on the right track, what you smell…And where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”
Unless the source […]

Is it two step foward or one step forward, one step back? Coach Croom has a challenge ahead of him. Not only does he have to prepare for UK, he also has to keep his players from losing focus. With this bunch, who knows how they will respond? Fortunately for State, UK won’t be confused […]

Why does the NCAA wait to the last minute to make decisions? How long have they known about the Roberts/Portland issues?

Timmy B opened his show with a clip from the MSU-UF game, using the Gator radio call no less. It was the 37 yd Jerious Norwood run. You could hear the disgust in the play-by-play caller’s voice. It’s nice to hear someone besides Jack Cristil sound disgusted on the radio.
Brando will be talking to Coach […]

According to Danny Sheridan and USATODAY.com. The torch has been passed to Kentucky as the worst team in the SEC, and the stats bear that out.

SECsports.com has this week’s players of the week in the SEC. Big surprise, considering the outcome of the game. Here’s the stats:
