Croom talks recruiting.
In a freebie at BulldogBlitz.com Coach Croom talked about MSU’s football recruiting philosophy. He specifically pointed to Andrew Powell, Brian Anderson and Mario Bobo as the kind of players he wants:
We will go to high schools in this state and elsewhere and do our own evaluation,” Croom explained. “If we like the guy, we’ll sign him. We don’t care if he’s a blue chip prospect or who else is recruiting him or if no one else wants him. If we like him, we will sign him. There are high school all-Americans in this state and elsewhere that we don’t want for various reasons. We won’t recruit them nor offer them scholarships. That is the way our recruiting will be. My experience shows that the best players are the ones that no one else recruits. We’ll go wherever we have to in order to find those types of players. We’ll take players that no one wants and everyone overlooks but fit our profile for a position and our specific needs. They have to fit with us from a character standpoint and an ability standpoint.”
