MSU could deny Auburn shot at BCS title
Along with fellow SEC bottom feeders Mississippi, UK and Vandy, State has been a drag on the SEC’s conference ranking. Because of that, some think Auburn’s schedule is un worthy of an Orange Bowl berth.
The SEC has four of the worst teams in BCS-affiliated conferences - Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Mississippi and Mississippi State. They’re a combined 10-30, with losses to Maine, Navy and Rutgers. Kentucky got beat by Ohio.
It’s no wonder that the SEC is taking on water in the BCS computer rankings. The Sagarin Football Ratings ranks the SEC fourth, as does Kenneth Massey. Anderson and Hester’s computer ranks the SEC fifth. Dr. Peter Wolfe has the SEC sixth, but he counts Division I-A independents Navy and Notre Dame as a conference.
This essentially what Bob Stoops said this morning on ESPN Radio. The SEC is like the old ACC, top-heavy.
