Croom contract extension
I’m suprised by the amount of attention this story has received. Maybe it has to do with the current state of college football in respect to coaching.
Athletic director Larry Templeton said that for every year the program is under sanctions, Croom will receive an extra year on top of the state-maximum four-year contract he signed 12 months ago. That verbal agreement would keep him under contract through the 2011 season.
I don’t think this is correct. The way I read it, Croom gets two extra years, considering the two years of recruiting sanctions with which the NCAA saddled us. That would put him under verbal contract through 2010. Year 2006 - the last year of sanctions - plus 4 years equals 2010. That’s still one hell of a commitment.
