What is this guy smoking?

The headline says it all:Mississippi packed with D-I prospects:

If the Big 3 schools are looking for a quarterback in Mississippi, there’s plenty to go around.

The Magnolia State has one of its deepest quarterback classes in years, boasting five potential Division I signal-callers.

What?? The best of the group will likely never take a snap. Mississippi has produced two decent QB since the days of Steve McNair in the early nineties - Jarious Jackson and Jason Campbell - and those guy never really set the world on fire. No. One look at list of MS QB’s signed with Division I schools and it’s apparent that Mississippi high schools do a poor job developing quarterbacks:

1996 - Ty Trahan, Pearl River Central (Southern Miss).
1997 - Romaro Miller, Shannon (Ole Miss); Cleo Lemon, Greenwood (Arkansas State); Burney Veazey, Southern Baptist (Tennessee).
1998 - Tank Williams, Bay St. Louis (Stanford); David Page, Northwest Rankin (SMU); Freddie Milons, Starkville (Alabama).
1999 - Bobby Garner, Gulfport (Southern Miss); Kevin Fant, Moss Point (Mississippi State); Allen Tillman, Newton (Auburn).
2000 - Jason Campbell, Taylorsville (Auburn); Ray Ray Bivines, Gautier (Mississippi State); Chris Young, South Panola (Vanderbilt); Micky D’Angelo, Long Beach (Southern Miss).
2001 - Damarius Bilbo, Moss Point (Georgia Tech); Micheal Spurlock, Gentry (Ole Miss); Stan Hill, Tupelo (Marshall).
2002 - Aries Nelson, East Side (Mississippi State); Ken Topps, Shannon (Mississippi State).
2003 - Jeremy Young, Provine (Southern Miss); Omarr Conner, Noxubee County (Mississippi State); Cliff Davis, Eupora (Alabama); Adam Hogan, Pascagoula (Louisiana-Monroe).
