SEC West showdown
Mississippi State Visits Alabama:
Alabama is one of the best teams in the country. Offensively, they can just score,” Stansbury said. “They can score at all five positions. It is going to be very difficult on the road. We are looking forward to going over there.”
Also, did you know Lawrence Roberts leads all active players in Double-Doubles?
“They have what very few teams in America have,’ Alabama coach Mark Gottfried said. “They have a Wooden Award finalist. You’re talking about one of the top five players in America (in 2004). For that guy to return to college, that’s rare. He is a physical specimen, a great player. You’ve got your hands full, no doubt about it.”
“For the most part, everybody we’ve seen against Mississippi State has had their post players in foul trouble,” Gottfried said. “It appears (Roberts) is playing the majority of the game against somebody else’s bench because the first group is in foul trouble. We’ve got to do a great job staying out of foul trouble and finding a way to stop him.”
“I don’t think they have any weaknesses offensively,” Stansbury said. “You choose your poison. You can choose to try to take the big guys out a little bit and then Shelton, Winston will kill you and (Ronald) Steele. Try to slow perimeter guys down a little bit and Davis and (Jermareo) Davidson will kill you.”
