LSU v. MSU preview
The Town Talk (Alexandria, La):
A win over State could help more than other remaining road wins since State has a 23 RPI, has been ranked this season and received votes for both polls this week. The Bulldogs are also tied with LSU for second in the SEC West behind Alabama. LSU beat State 69-62 in Baton Rouge on Jan. 29
“We don’t even mention that (NCAA possibilities),” Brady said. “All that stuff will take care of itself. There is no reason to add any kind of pressure on our team. We are trying to play the next game better than we played the previous game.”
“They have one of the best frontcourts in the league,” State coach Rick Stansbury said of LSU. “They are a very balanced team.”
There won’t be any talk of revenge from Mississippi State coach Rick Stansbury leading into tonight’s showdown against LSU in Starkville.
The Bulldogs went down to Baton Rouge on Jan. 29 and lost by seven to an inspired group of Tigers. They’ve edged back into a second-place tie in the SEC West, a tied that will be broken tonight in the rematch.
“You can’t get into using gimmicks all the time,” Stansbury said. “Kids understand the situation we’re in without me having to tell them they beat us the first time down there. They understand where we’re at in the league.
