Key reserve to possibly miss ‘05-’06 season.

Thursday, June 30th, 2005

Walter Sharpe has a long way to go to become eligible this coming season. This begs the question: how freaking hard is to pass two freshman level classes? Can you spell N-B-D-L?

Newspaper ranks MSU ‘05 basketball recruiting class 5th

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

This ranking comes from the Louisville (Ky) Courier-Journal. I suspect they do a better job of following national recruiting than, say, the Clarksdale (Ms) Press-Register, so this ranking is worth noting.

Roberts taken by Seattle, dealed to Memphis

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

Lawrence Roberts goes to the Grizzlies, who traded some future draft picks for the former All-American. That shows more than a passing interest in Roberts. I don’t know much about the Grizzlies’ roster, so I leave it to someone else to breakdown his chances of sticking. But, obviously, Memphis GM Jerry West [...]

Remember this?

Tuesday, June 28th, 2005

I read earlier this month in an ESPN.com blurb that Croom “expects” MSU to reach bowl eligiblity this season. I wondered when he made such a bold statement. Well, I’ve found it. Oops.
What are the expectations for next season?
I expect a winning season and that’s the least of what I expect from [...]

Sleepy Robinson named head coach at E. Oktibbeha

Sunday, June 26th, 2005

According to the AP, former MSU QB Robinson is taking over the head position at East Oktibbeha County HS. I think that’s great, but two questions come to mind. 1) what kind of offense Sleepy will run? (2) There’s East Oktibbeha & West Oktibbeha high schools? Man, they must be small. [...]

MSN/FoxSports MSU football preview

Saturday, June 25th, 2005

You’ve probably seen this preview on CollegeFootballNews.com, but it’s now been posted under the MSN banner. Since I never posted it the first time, here goes:
OFFENSE - Basically … The offense had one shocking explosion against Florida last year and that was about it. This was, and is, a very young offense with [...]

Tuesday, June 21st, 2005

The Arizona Diamondbacks have called Brandon Medders back up to the major leagues to boost their bullpen.
“I’m a little nervous,” Medders said before Saturday night’s game. “But it would be good to get out there and get into the game [tonight].”
Medders has pitched one scoreless inning since joining the D-backs.

OLine not the only ones told to drop pounds.

Friday, June 17th, 2005

Don’t use Two-A-Days to get in shape. That’s the message DLine coach Brick Haley is telling his guys. It seems Coach Croom is determined that State not be out-worked this season.

Say what, Coach Croom?

Monday, June 13th, 2005

In ESPN.com’s Three things to watch for in the SEC:
3. Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom says he “expects” his players to reach a bowl game this fall. Given the unsettled state of the West – two new coaches, Alabama and Arkansas continuing to rebuild – he might have a shot.
When did Croom say that? [...]
