Bulldogs, Gators To Be Broadcast Regionally On Sun Sports

STARKVILLE, Miss.–The Mississippi State soccer team’s October 14 date with nationally ranked Florida at the Mississippi State Soccer Field has been slated to be televised live on a regional basis by Sun Sports, the network announced Tuesday afternoon.

The 7 p.m. CST broadcast will begin a weekend of a pair of televised games for the Maroon and White, with its Sunday afternoon game with South Carolina tabbed for a 1 p.m. broadcast on SEC-TV (Fox Sports Net) as part of their SEC soccer/volleyball package. Sun Sports, which owns the television rights to all University of Florida athletic broadcasts, is also distributed on Fox College Sports Digital.

Mississippi State is 1-2 all-time in televised games with its lone win coming in the form of a 2-1 victory over Auburn on Oct. 12, 2001, en route to the SEC Western Division championship that season. A late goal by South Carolina helped spoil State’s last television appearance in 2003 at the MSU Soccer Field.

The Bulldogs will open the 2005 MSU athletic campaign on Friday evening when the Maroon and White welcomes Big 12 foe Iowa State to the MSU Soccer Field for a 7 p.m. match-up. State will close out its opening weekend of play on Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. home contest against Samford. Admission to all 2005 MSU Soccer home games is free.
