MSU expects villain’s role against displaced Tulane
Joedy McCreary of the Picayune Item talks about how MSU will be playing the villain role against Tulane on Saturday.
“Everybody’s going to be pulling for Tulane, much like it was for the (New Orleans) Saints” last week, Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom said. “We’ve got to understand that. It’s not that they hate us or anything. It’s just that they’re reaching out to Tulane because of what’s happened.”

I don’t think anyone sees MSU as the villian here- in fact, most Tulane fans are frustrated that since the Wave doesn’t utterly suck anymore, it is hard to get BCS schools to play us- particularly away from home.
I like having MSU on the schedule. They bring a decent crowd to the Dome (and attendance is an issue at Tulane- we need help)- this year excepted of course. We can play a decent game with them, etc.
I think the series ends this year (maybe next?)- as we pick up LSU for ten years and a mixture of Ole Miss and Alabama over the next few. But it has be a fun series- even kinda competitive- got us on ESPN once- so I’ll miss the Bulldogs.
