Sunday Morning Wrap-up, Week 3
Mississippi State came out of its game with Tulane with a 2-1 record, beating Tulane 21-14. Jerious Norwood finished the game with 99 yards on 21 carries, while Omarr Conner connected on 13 of 26 passes for 108 yards. On defense, Kevin Dockery seemed to be played well, and Willie Evans came away with 2 sacks (4 for the season). Derek Pegue’s tipped the Green Wave’s last-ditch attempt at a touchdown as the clock expired in the fourth quarter.

Tulane was poised for a feel-good ending to its hurricane-delayed season opener until Mississippi State and Jerious Norwood played the role of spoiler.
Back on the field, Tulane falls to Mississippi State (Sun Herald)
Mississippi State got back in the win column. Tulane finally played a football game. With Hurricane Katrina nearly three weeks in the rear-view mirror, that’s progress on both counts.
Green Wave falls short (Shreveport Times)
The Tulane football team has persevered through some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable. Hurricane Katrina uprooted players and coaches from their homes and forced them on the road for 16 days, searching and finding lodging from Jackson State, Southern Methodist University and Louisiana Tech.
Dogs survive bumpy ride
The Mississippi State players understand what Tulane has been through. Fleeing Hurricane Katrina, relocating, coping with lives changed forever — it was an emotional roller coaster for the Green Wave. But the Bulldogs vowed their feelings wouldn’t alter the outcome.
Nothing normal about Dogs’ win over Wave (Clarion-Ledger)
The storm that roared into New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast nearly three weeks ago affected millions of people and hundreds, if not thousands of athletes. Twenty-three Mississippi State athletes were directly affected. Some of them are football players.

I thought your Bulldogs played a gutty game- I was hopeful if they kept Norwood under some semblance of control, Tulane could win the game.
But I am always glad to see Croom win- he seems like a class act- and it would be good for the SEC and the NCAA for him to be successful.
Sorry to see this series end.

I usually do ballbuster/parody articles and sometimes legit takes on the game. If you’ve got any good smack talk or legit takes on the game, shoot me a note. My email is on my profile on the blog. I’ll link over. Have fun this weekend. Starkville is the 10th and final opposing SEC stadium for me (I doubt I’ll ever have a reason to go to Gainesville).
