Tornado Strikes MSU Campus
Sunday afternoon, the remnants of Hurricane Rita were moving swiftly through Arkansas and Tennessee, and a causing severe weather throughout East Mississippi and West Alabama.
Around 3pm, a tornado touched down and moved through the Mississippi State campus. Damage reports have consisted of over-turned cars, downed trees, and one person even reported damage to the Colvard Union.

The campus cafeteria and some tennis courts were also hit by the tornado as it worked its way northeast across the campus, said Mike Brown, an Associate Professor of Meteorology at MSU.
Classes have been cancelled until 1pm Monday while crews continue to clean up and assess the damage.
