Bulldogs Down West Georgia 80-66 In Men’s Hoops Exhibition

Charles Rhodes had 21 points and keyed the decisive spurt to lead Mississippi State to an 80-66 win over West Georgia in an exhibition game Saturday night.
Rebuilding Mississippi State led by as many as 20 and took control with a late 21-1 run. The Bulldogs are replacing their top six scorers and top six rebounders from a team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Sam Richardson and Andrius Petkunas each had 20 points to lead the Division II Braves, who tied it three times in the second half.
The Braves tied it for the final time at 57-all on two Petkunas free throws with 8:58 remaining.
Rhodes scored 10 during the decisive spurt, and Piotr Stelmach’s dunk with 2:53 remaining capped the run and made it 78-57.
Jamall Edmondson had 17 points and Stelmach added 16 for Mississippi State.
Chris Burras added 11 points for the Braves, and Antonio Shaw had 14 rebounds.
