LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Darren McFadden became the seventh freshman in SEC history to rush for 1,000 yards, and Arkansas rolled over Mississippi State 44-10 Saturday.

The Razorbacks (4-6, 2-5 Southeastern Conference) led 41-3 at halftime en route to their seventh straight win over the Bulldogs.

McFadden rushed for 165 yards, becoming the first Arkansas freshman to reach the 1,000 mark. The milestone came on an electrifying 64-yard run in the fourth quarter. McFadden broke free along the right sideline, then cut to the middle of the field before finally being dragged down deep in Mississippi State territory.

McFadden was mobbed by his teammates, received a standing ovation from the crowd of 55,712, then came out of the game. He has 1,056 yards rushing heading into the Razorbacks’ season finale at No. 4 LSU on Friday.

Georgia’s Herschel Walker holds the SEC freshman record with 1,616 yards in 1980.

Arkansas improved to 19-1 at Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium since coach Houston Nutt took over before the 1998 season. The Razorbacks held Mississippi State to minus-11 yards in the first quarter and 183 for the game.

McFadden scored on runs of 1 and 21 yards in the first quarter. Mississippi State’s Demario Bobo came across to try to stop him on the second touchdown, but McFadden lowered his shoulder and lunged the final few yards to the end zone with the defender on his back.

Casey Dick’s 15-yard pass to Peyton Hillis made it 27-0 in the second. Adam Carlson kicked a 39-yard field goal for Mississippi State, but Felix Jones returned the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown.

Dick threw a 15-yard scoring pass to Marcus Monk with 11 seconds left in the half.

Jerious Norwood, Mississippi State’s career leader in rushing, ran for 91 yards. Demarcus Johnson added 65 on eight carries, including a 2-yard scoring run in the third quarter.

Norwood now has 3,018 yards rushing with one game remaining in his senior season.

The Bulldogs (2-8, 0-7) have lost 21 straight SEC games away from home and 19 straight overall against SEC West opponents.

Jones ran for 71 yards for Arkansas, all in the first half. The Razorbacks, who entered averaging 233.8 yards rushing per game, had 247 against Mississippi State.

Dick went 12-of-23 for 124 yards with two interceptions. Mississippi State’s Michael Henig was 11-of-27 for 77 yards. He was intercepted once and lost two fumbles.
