Illegal Player Contact At Meridian/Oak Grove Game?
Reports are flying around the message boards and rumor mills that Duece McAllister, former Ole Miss player and current NFL standout, was seen talking with players on the Meridian High Wildcat sideline during Friday nights game between MHS and Oak Grove at Meridian’s Ray Stadium.
It is a fact that Deuce was present at the game, seen in the stands watching the game, signing autographs and having a good time.
Many people, however, have reported seeing Deuce on the sideline, talking it up with two Meridian High players that are highly-touted seniors. What could be the big deal, right? Deuce may have formed friendships with the players at some time and was just there supporting them and their team.
The problem is that Deuce has made donations to his Alma Mater, Ole Miss, and some see his presence on the sideline as a violation of NCAA rules. Specifically, many have pointed to the following:
Section 13.02.13.b: Have made financial contributions to the athletics department or to an athletics booster organization of that institution;
Was Deuce there to help recruit for his Alma Mater, or was he just there as a spectator without any knowledge of the infraction he was committing. I am not pointing fingers, just want to open the topic up for discussion.
