Despite what some would consider a bad second-half of the season, as well as missing out on the Southeastern Conference Tournament, which MSU won just a year ago, Mississippi State landed as a #3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Mississipp Congressman and MSU Alumni G.V. Sonny Montgomery passed away the morning of May 12 at Jeff Anderson hospital in Meridian. He was 85.
