The Starkville Daily News has a great feature on Brandon Thornton today. I remember seeing Brandon play when he was here at Homewood High and he could really make some things happen on the field.

It appears that he has turned into a real workhorse this summer after missing most of the spring practices because of a shoulder surgery, and his position coach likes what he is seeing.

“He’s multi-dimensional, a dual threat,” said Beamer. “He’s a hard runner, he’s got quickness, he gets north and south and can really be a weapon out of the backfield. He’s a great route runner and he has nice hands. He’s a guy we want to get the ball to, he can make things happen.”

Opening night will be a great measure of just how well we can fill the gap left by Jerious Norwood’s departure, and Brandon Thornton wants to be a big part of the solution.
