Jeffrey Rea Returning For Senior Season
The Commercial Dispatch is reporting that Jeffrey Rea, who was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 33rd round, will return to Starkville for his senior season with the Mississippi State baseball team.
“I am 100 percent sure that I am coming back,” Rea said in a telephone interview from his apartment in South Varmouth, Mass., where he’s playing for the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod League. “It just didn’t happen and the Red Sox had a couple of good offers for me earlier this summer. I called their bluff but they were not bluffing.”
Rea has spent his summer playing in the Cape Cod League where he has been hitting .282 and helped his team to the playoffs. Fellow dog Mitch Moreland has also been playing in the Cape Cod League. Both made a splash in the leagues all-star game with Moreland capturing the homerun title with 25 home runs during the derby.
