MSU/OCU Basketball Preview

Here is a preview on Mississippi State’s exhibition match with Oklahoma City University, published by OCU Athletics. The game is scheduled for today at The Hump with a 6:00 tip-off.

ABOUT THE STARS: OCU opened the season with an 82-36 victory over Hillsdale Baptist on Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
B.J. Walker, a 6-foot-10 senior from Cincinnati, led the Stars with 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor. Walker made his debut with OCU after transferring from Nebraska. Walker is one of 11 newcomers to
OCU.

Marlon Jones, a 6-10 junior from Greenville, N.C., paced OCU with 13 rebounds. Ronald Taylor added 13 points, and Ricky Smith had 12 points. The Stars held Hillsdale Baptist scoreless for eight minutes of the first half. For the game, Hillsdale Baptist shot 32.7 percent from the floor.

The Stars are ranked second in the NAIA Division I preseason poll after finishing at 29-8 and NAIA runner-up last season. OCU, the defending Sooner Athletic Conference champion, is favored to win the SAC.
