According to Gregg Ellis’ blog, Coach Croom has lifted the suspension on QB Josh Riddell. Riddell is an Oregon native who has spent the last two years at Foothill College in California. He was the #2 quarterback behind Michael Henig until he was arrested for DUI two weeks ago.
“I’m still disappointed in Josh’s actions, but […]

There was a moment in the third quarter when the entire bulldog nation held its breath as Derek Pegues, free safety, punt returner, and one of the best players we have on the entire team, was helped off the field, limping.
Many were assuming a blown knee or torn ACL. Turns out it was just leg […]

This was a brutal hit on freshman Zach Smith by Brandon LaFell. This hurt me just to watch it.
Reminds me of the hit that Glanton put on Johns during the Bama game last year.

So what have we learned from the first game of our 2007 season? Our defense doesnt seem to have missed a beat. Rather than hearing Culberson’s name all the time, the secondary was definitely a team effort, with Fitzhugh, Chaney, and more getting in on the action.
For much of the game, the D was able to […]

It never fails. ESPN is showing a Mississippi State game (name your sport) and someone calls us Mississippi or throws the name Ole Miss into the conversation. But this is just intolerable.
That is an Ole Miss ad during the Mississippi State vs. LSU game. Really guys. Come on. Get a map. I think Miss Teen […]

If you are making the trip for the game, or already in Starkville, here are a few sites that might make it worth your time. The main source for gameday […]

MSU beatwriter Kyle Veazy has a great profile of starting fullback Jeremy Jones. Jones started out at LSU and transferred to State in lieu of grayshirt status from LSU.
He is still close to many of his former teammates like Early Doucet. At 6-2 and 275 pounds, he looks to make some big holes for Dixon. […]

Football season is only a few days away and it is easily the busiest time of the year for the Mississippi State Sports Blog. Nothing makes that more obvious than the enormous amount of traffic that the blog is getting right now, most of it going to my post of the football helmet schedules.
I have […]

Kirk Herbstreit released his Seventh Annual Herbie Awards. The Lil’ Dooey in Starkville tops his list of favorite restaurants this year. It has been on the top of his list since at least 2005 (does anyone know how long he has had it as #1?).
I know lots of people love Lil Dooey, but what is […]

One of my favorite tailgate foods is Mississippi State Sin Bread. We make it just about any time we are watching the Dawgs on TV and have even taken it to parties. Everyone seems to love it, so I thought I would post the recipe here.
1 loaf of French bread
1.5 cups of sour cream
2 cups […]

A few days ago I posted a a link to the 2007 SEC Football Helmet Schedule. A lot of people have downloaded it since then. I had a friend send me another helmet schedule file that includes all NCAA teams organized by conference. Unfortunately, it was in the form […]
