LSU Recap
So what have we learned from the first game of our 2007 season? Our defense doesnt seem to have missed a beat. Rather than hearing Culberson’s name all the time, the secondary was definitely a team effort, with Fitzhugh, Chaney, and more getting in on the action.
For much of the game, the D was able to hang with LSU. Of course, our offense was more of the same: poor play calling, poor QB performance, etc. There were definitely some positives on offense. Our O-line seems to be doing much better than last year, giving the QB time to pass and giving the backfield space to run. Dixon is just as stout as predicted, and should have another break-out season this year.
However, we can’t expect to score, much less win, if our starting QB and supposed “leader” of the team is floating passes out over the field, ripe for the picking. Of course, we know that Croom will keep putting him in because “he’s our guy!” Carroll looked okay in spite of the situation he was thrown into. It would have definitely helped to have someone with game experience to put in after Henig was pulled, and hopefully Riddell can get his act together.
Hopefully we will get some good news on the injury that Pegues suffered in the first half.
