Gabe O’Neal Named SEC Defensive Player of the Week
Mississippi State linebacker Gabe O’Neal has been named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week following the 38-17 victory over Tulane. Here is what he did to deserve it:
- O’Neal tallied four total tackles and had an interception return (his first career interception) for a touchdown and a fumble recovery in Mississippi State’s 38-17 win at Tulane.
- On Tulane’s third play from scrimmage, O’Neal intercepted a Green Wave pass and returned it 47 yards for a score to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead.
- O’Neal recovered a Tulane fumble later in the first quarter that was converted into a touchdown on State’s offensive drive.
- State held Tulane to just 44 rushing yards and 243 total offensive yards.
