Bulldogs Defeat UAB
After an ugly first half of football that saw the Bulldog offense generate less than 60 yards of total offense and injured QB Mike Henig spoil his return by going 2-8 with TWO interceptions, the Bulldogs trailed at the half 10-3.
The Bulldogs started the second half off on the right foot with a 75-yard drive down the field for a touchdown, although Carlson missed the extra point. Wesley Carroll took control of the offense for the entire second half, finishing 9-of-12 with 93 yards.
Anthony Dixon (our #2 running back today) rushed 32 times for 152 yards and 3 touchdowns as the offense really got in gear during the 3rd and 4th quarter. One of the biggest stats of this game is that Mississippi State only had 1 penalty for 15 yards, definitely a change from the penalty-riddled game against South Carolina last weekend.
I am interested to see if Croom comments on why he decided to put Henig in after only 4 minutes in the first quarter.
Next week, Mississippi State hosts Tennessee at Scott Field. Tennessee fans travel better than just about any other team in the SEC, so expect a sell out crowd on hand. We will have a preview of Tennessee later in the week.
