Mississippi State Basketball Begins
Rick Stansbury’s team begins practice tonight in preparation for the 2007-2008 basketball season. There seems to be a lot of potential in the team this year. They are ranked #25 in the country by Dick Vitale in his pre-season Top 40 and Jamont Gordon is considered among the nation’s top guards by Gary Parrish.
The team kicks its season off on November 10 against LaTech. Their pre-conference season consists of teams like Clemson (who they almost beat last year), Missouri, Miami, Loyola-Marmount and a Turkey Day tournament in California that features teams like Southern California.
On a side note, the sheer number of games during the basketball season make it difficult to cover from a fan perspective on a part-time basis. I just found this great blog dedicated to Mississippi State Basketball and you should definitely check it out. Head on over to the Mississippi State Basketball Blog and soak up the info. They are doing a great series right now on looking ahead at some of our non-conference foes.

We are also ranked as high as #17 by Rivals. Should be an exciting season.
