Mississippi State Bowl Outlook
It is less than a week away from the bowl selection Sunday and Mississippi State fans are anxious to know where they will need to make their travel plans to. There seem to be two leading bowls that we are being considered for: the Liberty Bowl and the Music City Bowl.
There really doesn’t seem to be an official consensus on where the Bulldogs will end up. The many bowl prediction lists out have us at either, or we could even move up. A lot depends on things like whether LSU wins or loses against Tennessee this weekend in the SEC Championship.
The Music City Bowl has a slightly higher payout than the Liberty Bowl ($1.6 million vs. $1.5 million). The opponents seem to already be set from the other conference tie-ins on those bowls, with UCF going to the Liberty Bowl from C-USA and probably Florida State going to the Music City from the ACC.
Either way, it is a great time to be a Bulldog and either bowl is a great opportunity to get some exposure and do some recruiting in the areas around the bowl games. An article in the Tennessean today makes it sound like it is between Mississippi State and Kentucky for that bowl. If Kentucky gets Music City, we will likely end up in the Liberty Bowl, unless by some chance Alabama or South Carolina get selected ahead of us. If that happens, i think the Independence Bowl will be our fate.
Mississippi State will start taking ticket orders on Monday, December 3 after the official bowl announcement is made. Priority will go to Bulldog Club members, with general ticket sales beginning after Friday, December 7.
