Ellis Johnson Accepts Job at Arkansas
Fox Sports on MSN is reporting that Mississippi State Defensive Coordinator Ellis Johnson has accepted a job on Bobby Petrino’s staff at Arkansas. Coach Croom said on Monday that Johnson informed him of his decision to leave. Arkansas has made no official announcement.
“We feel that we have done everything possible to keep Ellis here, but he indicated to me that his decision was in his family’s best interest,” Croom said. “Ellis has been a big part of our success and we wish him well in the future, but we will move quickly to hire a replacement.”
This announcement comes after Johnson has interviewed with South Carolina and Georgia Tech.
According to Gregg Ellis of the Daily Journal, Arkansas did not go through the proper channels to contact Johnson. That is just unbelievable considering the fine, upstanding coach that they just hired.
