While there is no official word from MSU Athletics, it seems apparent that Mississippi State defensive secondary coach Charlie Harbison will be promoted to the defensive coordinator position.

Harbison coached safeties for the Bulldogs last year. Prior to joining the MSU staff, he had two stints at Alabama coaching on both sides of the ball. He has also coached at LSU, Clemson, UTEP and Gardner-Webb. He was also selected in 2005 as one of the nation’s top 25 recruiters by Rivals.com.

So the way things are shaping up is that Louis Campbell will come in to coach linebackers to replace Ellis Johnson in that role, and Charlie Harbison will be promoted to Defensive Coordinator as well as continue coaching safeties.

Again, no official word from the athletic department yet, but I would expect an announcement by the end of today or early tomorrow.
