Mississippi State Defeats Alabama for Eighth Consecutive Win; 4-0 in SEC
Jamont Gordon scored 24 points and keyed a late run in Mississippi State’s 66-56 victory over Alabama on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (13-5, 4-0 Southeastern Conference) led by as many as 13 points midway through the second half before Alabama (11-8, 0-4) made a final comeback attempt.
Senario Hillman hit a layup and free throw to bring the Tide to within 59-55 with 3:58 left.
Then Gordon had a steal and dunk to start a 7-0 run for the Bulldogs, who are the only SEC West team without a league loss.
Alabama didn’t score again until Demetrius Jemison’s free throw with 39 seconds left.
The Bulldogs made 12-of-26 3-pointers while Alabama was just 2-of-14.
Gordon hit four 3s and also had five assists. Barry Stewart scored 16 points for Mississippi State.
Richard Hendrix led Alabama with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting. He also had six rebounds and four assists.
Alonzo Gee finished with 10 points for the Tide, which was outscored 33-28 in each half.
