Chris Garrett Commits To LSU
Gregg Ellis reported on his Daily Journal blog today the standout QB Chris Garrett of Tupelo has committed to play for Les Miles at LSU. This is a reversal of the verbal commitment he had made to play for Sly Croom last October.
The commitment to the Tigers comes after a visit to LSU and a scholarship offer from Les Miles. With a family that has strong ties to MSU, this was a tough decision to make.
“He’s been praying about it for weeks, and he thinks this is what’s best for his future and career,” his father, David Garrett told me this morning. “It’s tough for him, because he’s been a Mississippi State fan his entire life. He loves Coach Croom and the staff, but just feels LSU is what’s best for his future and chance to play in the NFL.”
LSU has already received a commitment from 5-star recruit Russell Shepard of Houston, completing their QB recruiting for the 2009 class.
