Chaz Ramsey Released From Auburn

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Madison (MS) native Chaz Ramsey has been granted a release from Auburn. This release gives him the opportunity to transfer to any Non-SEC school - with an exception for Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
Ramsey was a 4-star offensive lineman out of Madison Central High School. He started as a true freshman for Auburn in 2007 [...]

SEC Power Poll Ballot - Week 5

Monday, September 29th, 2008

I missed my ballot deadlline last week, and there have been some major shakeups in my rankings after this past weekend. Here we go.

LSU
LSU is the most complete team in the SEC right now. Hey have found a solid QB in Jarrett Lee, Charles Scott is a force to be reckoned with, and their receiver [...]

No TV for Mississippi State - Vanderbilt

Monday, September 29th, 2008

The SEC has announced that the Mississippi State - Vandy kick-off has been set for 1:30pm on October 11. This obviously means no TV other than the normal replay on CSS on Sunday.
The only SEC games being televised that day are Tennessee at Georgia (3:30 CBS Game),LSU at Florida (8:00 CBS Game), and South Carolina [...]

Robert Elliott Out For Season

Monday, September 29th, 2008

This was pretty obvious, but it is now confirmed. Elliott tore the ACL and LCL in his left kneed early in the fourth quarter against LSU. Elliott is a redshirt freshman this year and was developing as a nice speed-back compliment to the Dixon-Ducre tandem.
I wonder if he can apply for a medical redshirt and [...]

Robert Elliott’s Injury Status

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Most Mississippi State fans are probably wondering what is going on with Robert Elliott. We all saw Elliott take a nasty hit to his left knee late in the game against LSU this past weekend. As the trainers were helping him off the field, it looked as if he couldn’t even lift his left leg.
Reports [...]

Mississippi State - LSU Post Game

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Well, at least we weren’t completely killed. I think most of us knew going into this game that we weren’t going to win. It is, after all, LSU. They have always had our number. At least we kept the score respectable.
in the second half, the offense really started to show some promise - completing passes, [...]

Mississippi State - LSU Linkage

Friday, September 26th, 2008

I have had a pretty busy week at work and haven’t been able to do my regular linkage posts, so I will just sort of lump them all together here. Enjoy.
The Sporting News says that LSU is among the SEC leaders in offense and defense.
And The Valley Shook talks about State’s offensive woes and how [...]

If you are in the Birmingham area this weekend and want to watch State get killed play LSU with fellow Bulldogs, head on out to Indigo Joe’s in Inverness off 280 Saturday night. The Birmingham Bulldog alumni group is hosting a viewing party there.
Kick-off is set for 6:30pm. Get the details and a map to [...]

LSU Guest Blogger

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

I sent fellow SEC Power Pollster Faimon at Pelican State Sports a few questions about the LSU Tigers and what they are looking forward to in the upcoming slaughter game with Mississippi State. Here are his answers. You can read my response to his questions over on his blog.
1. Until Auburn, LSU had not really [...]

SEC Power Poll - Week 4

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

It has been a crazy week at work and I missed my deadline for the SEC Power Poll Ballot, but here are the results for Week 4. I probably would have voted very close to the results.

Georgia, 247 points (11 first-place votes)
Florida, 245 (8)
LSU, 232 (3)
Alabama, 199.5
Auburn, 167.5
Vanderbilt, 161
Kentucky, 111
Mississippi, 100
South Carolina, 100
Tennessee, 86
Mississippi State, [...]

Mississippi State - Georgia Tech Post Game

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

What can I say. This was the first game I have attended since the Liberty Bowl and it was not a pretty sight. We arrived at Bobby Dodd stadium about halfway through the first quarter - just after Dixon broke off his 74 yard run. When we got to our seats, I couldn’t believe it [...]

MSU - Georgia Tech Game TV

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

I have seen a lot of posts flying around the message boards asking about the television situation for this game. Yes, the game is televised by Raycom sports, but it is part of their ACC package. They tried to get clearance for their SEC affiliates in Mississippi to show the ACC broadcast, but ESPN blocked [...]

Mississippi State - Georgia Tech Game Day Linkage

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Not much in the way of linkage for today. Jim Mashek of the SunHerald has an article talking about Georgia Tech’s offense - basically a modern version of the Wishbone that Croom played in under Paul “Bear” Bryant at Alabama.
“It is extremely difficult to defend,” Croom said. “I played in the wishbone. I know how [...]

Georgia Tech Guest Blogger

Friday, September 19th, 2008

I was contacted by Scott Carson over at Georgia Tech Sports blog with a few questions about our program, and I sent him a few about theirs. Here are his answers:
1. Mississippi State fans probably haven’t paid much attention to Georgia Tech. How is the team doing with the triple option that Paul Johnson brought [...]
