Jarvis Varnado was named SEC Player of the Week by the SEC today.
Averaged 10.7 points, 13.7 rebounds and 8.0 blocks in Mississippi State’s three games.
Shot 60 percent from the field, including a 6-of-7 effort against North Alabama.
Had 14 points, 16 rebounds and eight blocks in MSU’s win over Fairleigh Dickinson.

Mississippi State University Director of Athletics Greg Byrne announced Thursday that a new four-year contract with head men’s basketball coach Rick Stansbury had been executed and forwarded to MSU Interim President Dr. Vance Watson.
The contract requires approval by the Board of Trustees, Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning.

FoxSports.com is reporting that Jamont Gordon will declare for the NBA Draft.

The MSU athletic department released news yesterday that sophomore Ben Hansbrough has decided to transfer away from Mississippi State after his spring semester is over. Hansbrough was MState’s fourth-leading scorer this past season at 10.5 points per contest.
