Mississippi State standouts Charles Rhodes and Jamont Gordon have been named second-team all-SEC by a preseason vote of the league’s head men’s basketball coaches. The announcement was made Monday by the SEC office headquartered in Birmingham.

The 2006-07 men’s basketball schedule has been updated to reflect the games that have already been selected for television. Among them are the November 21 game at Clemson, December 11 at Miami and the SEC opener against Tennessee in Knoxville.

Six MSU football players have plead guilty to assaulting an off-duty police officer.
Cornerback Derek Pegues, safety Keith Fitzhugh, offensive tackle Michael Gates, quarterback Tray Rutland and defensive ends Charles Burnes and Quinton Wesley _ all freshmen _ were each fined $500 and received six-month suspended sentences for misdemeanor simple assault.
