Greg Byrne Named MSU Athletics Director

Greg Byrne has been approved by the Mississippi College Board as the next Athletics Director of Mississippi State. Byrne will take over when current AD Larry Templeton retires this summer. Byrne has been serving as associate athletic director for development and external affairs since 2006.

Jamont Gordon contributed at least 20 points for the 11th time this season but could not lift Mississippi State (17-8, 8-3 Southeastern Conference) to a win Wednesday night, as the Bulldogs fell 74-63 on the road to in-state rival Ole Miss (18-7, 4-7).

Hip Injury Ends Mississippi State QB Henig’s Playing Career

A chronic hip injury sustained during the 2007 Mississippi State football season has terminated the Bulldog playing career of junior quarterback Michael Henig.
Henig, who suffered the injury during August two-a-days, has been under the initial care of Dr. Rusty Linton of Columbus, Miss., and then hip specialist Dr. Thomas Byrd of Nashville, Tenn.
