Greg Byrne Named MSU Athletics Director

Greg Byrne has been approved by the Mississippi College Board as the next Athletics Director of Mississippi State. Byrne will take over when current AD Larry Templeton retires this summer. Byrne has been serving as associate athletic director for development and external affairs since 2006.

Mississippi State Hosts Clemson in NCAA Baseball Super Regional

According to the Mississippi State Athletics site, the Diamond Dogs will be hosting Clemson in NCAA Super Regional action this weekend at Dudy-Noble. This will be the first Super Regional hosted by MSU since the NCAA began the current championship structure in 1999.

Thornton, Evans Leave Bulldogs

The Commercial Dispatch has reported that defensive back Brandon Thornton and quarterback Ty Evans have decided to transfer from Mississippi State.
hornton played tailback his first two seasons in Starkville and was the Bulldogs’ second-leading rusher as a freshman and sophomore. The Birmingham, Ala., native rushed for 225 yards and one touchdown as a rookie.

Keith Mills Dismissed From Team

Sports Illustrated is reporting that Mississippi State has dismissed Freshman wide receiver Keith Mills from the team following an arrest on charges of burglary and forgery. He will also face disciplinary action from the University.
Mills is a freshman from Alexandria, La., and has not seen any playing time this year.
