Coach Croom is Birmingham News SEC Coach Of The Year
Coach Croom seems to be racking up the coach of the year awards. First, he was put at the top of the first-round fan vote for the Liberty Mutual Coach Of The Year. Then, he was named the Rivals.com SEC Coach of the Year, followed by a nod from the American Football Coaches Association as their Region 2 Coach Of The Year.
Now he has the vote of the sports writers of The Birmingham News as their SEC Coach of the Year.
Best leap from a hot tin roof – Sure, Mississippi State Athletics Director Larry Templeton gave him a vote of confidence, but no one believed Croom would make it to December. Especially not after dropping the opener in blowout fashion to LSU. Now Croom is the consensus SEC Coach of the Year after guiding State to a four-win improvement. Surrounded within the Western Division by coaching heavyweights, Croom can hold his own.
Now all that is left is the AP SEC Coach Of The Year, which should be announced sometime today.
