Coach Croom Named SEC Coach Of The Year

Mississippi State head coach Sylvester Croom has officially been named SEC Coach of the Year by the league office in Birmingham today. You can read the official release from the SEC office on their website.

This marks the first time a Mississippi State head coach has been honored with coach of the year since Wade Walker won it in 1957. Allyn McKeen was also named coach of the year in 1940.

Croom, in his fourth year at the helm of the MSU football program, led the Bulldogs to a 7-5 record in 2007. Under his direction, State earned a berth in the Autozone Liberty Bowl, its first postseason appearance since 2000, and the team’s four-win improvement was the best in the league this season.

Congratulations Coach Croom!
