Croom Gets Contract Extension

Mississippi State University President Dr. Robert H. ‘Doc’ Foglesong announced Monday an extension to the contract of head football coach Sylvester Croom.
The extension requires approval by the Board of Trustees, Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning.
The two-year contract extension carries Croom through the 2011 football season. Financial details were not released.
Croom, the consensus Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year, led Mississippi State to an 8-5 record in 2007, a mark that includes a win over Central Florida in the ’07 AutoZone Liberty Bowl. Croom was recently named the Grant Teaff National Coach of the Year by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was named the American Football Coaches Association Region 2 Coach of the Year and is one of seven finalists for the Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year award. He was also a finalist for the Liberty Mutual National Coach of the Year.
