MSU Riley Center set to open
This isn’t really sports related, but it is MSU related, and in my hometown.
The MSU Riley Center, located in Downtown Meridian, is nearing completion. In addition to educational programs in the arts and performing arts, the center will also host live performances throughout the year. They have already annouced their lineup for the 2006-2007 year, and it really looks to be an impressive collection of performances.
They will open the season, and the center, with a 2-night performance by Linda Ronstadt on September 8th and 9th. The first night will be a black-tie gala to officially cristen the new venue, which is housed in the old Marks-Rothenberg department store and the Grand Old Opera house.
Other performances that caught my eye throught the next year are CeCe Winans on September 23rd, Bo Diddley & Friends on October 9th, Ricky Skaggs on October 28, and Sandi Patti to close out the 2006 year with “A Yuletide Joy Christmas”.
There hasn’t been any information released on ticket prices for any events or season tickets past the September 8th and 9th concerts.
