SEC Power Poll Ballot – Week 3

Most teams in the SEC kicked off their conference play this past weekend. Those that didn’t won their non-conference matchups without a problem. I think it is still too early to truly rank the teams. This weekend should give us a glimpse into the future Power Poll rankings.

  1. Georgia
  2. Florida
  3. LSU
  4. Vanderbilt
  5. Auburn
  6. Alabama
  7. Ole Miss
  8. Tennessee
  9. South Carolina
  10. Kentucky
  11. Arkansas
  12. Mississippi state

1. Georgia
The Bulldogs played a tight game against SEC-East foe South Carolina this past weekend. They stay at #1 with a big game against Arizona State – in Arizona – this coming weekend.

2. Florida
The Gators had the week off, which allowed them plenty of time to prep for Tennessee this weekend.

3. LSU
North Texas was no problem for LSU, which was expected from the worst defense in college football. LSU’s offense will face a hard test this coming weekend as they travel to the Plains to play Auburn.

4. Vanderbilt
Who would have guessed that Vandy would be 3-0 with a win over an SEC opponent in the bag. Their QB may be one of the best all-around athletes in the league, and they are playing great football.

5. Auburn
The Tigers slip to #5 this week based on their terrible offensive play against Mississippi State. Their defense proved once again to be one of the best in the conference, holding Mississippi State to 116 all purpose yards. Look for the “upset” against LSU this weekend.

6. Alabama
The Tide rolled over Western Kentucky, but did anyone expect them not to? They face Arkansas this week, who have had a week off thanks to Hurricane Ike. A road trip to Fayetteville is never easy.

7. Ole Miss
An easy win over Samford. They will have a bigger test against Vandy this week.

8. Tennessee
The Vols looked better against UAB, but that is a young Blazer team. They host Flordia this weekend and are looking to upset the Gators. They just might be able to pull it out.

9. South Carolina
A great game against Georgia. The seem to be getting better each week, but their offense still needs work.

10. Kentucky
The Wildcats barely escaped their game against Middle Tennessee, stopping them from scoring on the 1 yard line as time expired. Their offense is still not clicking, but the defense is keeping them in the games.

11. Arkansas
They had a bye week thanks to Ike, but will have a hard test against Alabama at home this weekend.

12.Mississippi State
That was a great defensive game for the Bulldogs, but the offense looked like a Junior High team. The Maroon faithful are going to begin calling for Croom’s head soon – or at least Woody McCorvey’s.
