Southeastern Louisiana – Mississippi State Preview
I meant to post this earlier in the weeke, but have been pretty busy with work. Also, I haven’t found much information on “SELA” other than that they have been in Oxford all week practicing after leaving Hammond ahead of Hurricane Gustav last weekend. Oh, and they also beat Alcorn State last week, holding off a 4th quarter comeback attempt.
I expect State to bounce back against this opponent. The Bulldogs should have plenty of opportunities to shake off the cobwebs and work out the kinks that were so apparent against an under-estimated LaTech team.
Derek Pegues will be back on the field after serving a one game suspension. He will be filling is normal role at safety as well as special teams duties as return man. Derek Sherrod will also see playing time, although he will not start. Mark Melichar will still start at left tackle and Quentis Saulsberry will start at right tackle. I assume Melchair will move back to the other end of the line to let Sherrod in at left tackle, but there is no indication of when.
Fans are also anxious to see how well Eric Richards does, especiall if he gets to try his hand at punting.
Croom has also decided to ditch the 2-quarterback system and “live or die” with Wes Carroll as starting QB.
