Tell us about Sly Croom.
You’ve got to read the excellent piece on Coach Croom in Sunday’s Memphis Commercial Appeal. It’s behind a subscription wall, but it’s worth the effort in registering.
One thing I’ve come to conclude about Croom: if he is successful at State, it will be built on a more solid foundation than the previous coach. With Sherrill, it was up and down, illustrated by his 74-74-3 overall record. I believe he will be successful, if not in his tenure, but for laying a foundation for the next coach and shaking off the vestiges of the Sherrill Era.
