The changing face of the SEC

TheState.com has another Croom-as-pioneer piece today. It’s basically a rehash of every other column you’ve seen on Sly Croom. Here’s the money line:
Croom’s hiring has been lauded by SEC officials, mindful of the conference’s good-old-boy-image, and by Mississippi State fans, who greeted Croom warmly when he toured the state this spring. But Croom knows feel-good stuff will have a short shelf life if the Bulldogs don’t start winning.
“We’ll be talking about won-loss record, and really that’s all that matters,” he said.
Making history is nice, but making the football program healthy is job #1. Croom understands this and that’s a big, big plus. I’m looking forward to the stories that talk about the upcoming season in specific terms. Until then the positive publicity will have to do.
