Tyler Russell Feature

The Meridian Star has a great write up on Meridian (MS) High School QB Tyler Russell. Tyler has already become one of the top quarterbacks in the state and looks to take Meridian back to the championship game again this year. He is also in the Clarion Ledger’s Dandy Dozen, the paper’s top 12 high school players.

Tyler has given a non-binding verbal committment to play for Mississippi State after high school. Meridian High kicks off their season next Friday, September 5 against long-time rival Starkville.

As of now, Russell is one of the jewels of Mississippi State’s 2009 recruiting class, a group that’s ranked No. 15 in the country by Scout.com. In addition to Russell, Croom and company have collected commitments from Noxubee County standout WR Patrick Patterson, Philadelphia defensive tackle Josh Boyd and Russell’s MHS teammate, WR Chris Smith.

“Looking at the players we’ve got coming on board, it just makes me excited to be a part of that,” Russell said. “I think we can help build something special at Mississippi State.”
