Woody McCorvey Staying At Mississippi State
The Daily Journal is reporting that Woody McCorvey has taken his name out of the hat for the South Alabama job, deciding to stay at Mississippi State for the time being.
“The timing and everything just isn’t right,” said McCorvey, who’s in Florida for recruiting. “My best intentions right now are to stay at Mississippi State.
“I’m not looking to leave, and I won’t make a lateral move. Certainly, if the right head coaching job became available, I’d have to look into that.”
What initially piqued his interest with USA was that the school is located just 75 miles from his hometown of Grove Hill, Ala., and that he knows the recruiting area well.But when his flight to Mobile on Friday for an interview was cancelled due to mechanical problems, he just felt returning to MSU for a fifth year was his best option.
“They were talking about rescheduling and bringing me back this week, but with recruiting and everything else, I didn’t want to drag this out any longer,” he said. “I knew then the best thing was to drop out.”
